In these examples, after you move your Windows Active Directory server to AWS your computers will connect to the Windows server, for AD authentication, Group policies and to access their shared folders or mapped drives. The computers will connect using TrueStack Direct Connect. You can add, remove, delete and disable connected computers through the TrueStack Direct Connect web interface.

Use the AWS Calculator to calculate your usage then add in the cost of the TrueStack Direct Connect server. These examples are based on the US East North Virginia Region. Choose a region close to your location. Different regions have slightly different pricing.

TrueStack Direct Connect is an AWS AMI or image that runs in your account. It runs on a Debian Linux server. You pay for:

  • The TrueStack Direct Connect subscription, either 10 (free), 25, 50 or Unlimited Connections.
  • The Debian Linux server that TrueStack Direct Connect runs on
  • The SSD Storage in GBs for the root drive that the TrueStack Direct Connect server sits on
  • The Windows Active Directory Server
  • The SSD Storage in GBs for the root or C drive of the Windows AD Server
  • (Optional) The SSD Storage in GBs for the Data drive of the Windows AD server if it’s also used as a File Server
  • (Optional) Cold HDD Storage for nightly backups of the data drive using Windows backup
  • (Optional) Periodic snapshots of the root drive of the Windows server for additional AD backup.

Example – 50 Connected Computers, 1 AD Server, 1 Terabyte

  • $74.95 – TrueStack Direct Connect (50 Connections)
  • $8.50 – Linux Debian Server – T2 Micro
  • $3.00 – 30 GBs of SSD storage for root of Linux Debian server
  • $47.15 – Windows Server – T2 Medium
  • $10.00 – 100 GBS of SSD storage for the C drive of the Windows server
  • $100.00 – 1 Terabyte of SSD storage for the D or Data drive of the Windows server.
  • $25.00 – 1 Terabyte of Cold HDD storage for back of the Data drive.

Monthly Total: $268.60

Example – 25 Connected Computers, 1 AD Server , no Storage

  • $39.95 – TrueStack Direct Connect (25 Connections)
  • $8.50 – Linux Debian Server – T2 Micro
  • $3.00 – 30 GBs of SSD storage for root of Linux Debian server
  • $11.86 – Windows Server – T2 Micro
  • $10.00 – 100 GBS of SSD storage for the C drive of the Windows server

Monthly Total: $73.31

Example – Multiple Customers, 500 Connected Computers, 5 AD Servers, 5TBs of Storage

  • $139.95 – TrueStack Direct Connect (Unlimited Connections)
  • $8.50 – Linux Debian Server – T2 Micro
  • $3.00 – 30 GBs of SSD storage for root of Linux Debian server
You only need 1 TrueStack Direct Connect server because you can route the different customers to different AD servers in your account.

  • $47.15 x 5 = $235.75 – 5 Windows servers – T2 Medium
  • $10.00 – 100 x 5 = $50.00 – 500 GBS of SSD storage for the C drive of the Windows servers
  • $100.00 x 5 = $500 – 5 Terabytes of SSD storage for the D or Data drive of the Windows servers.
  • $25.00 x 5 = $100 – 5 Terabytes of Cold HDD storage for back of the Data drives.

Monthly Total: $1037.20 – Include these prices or marked up prices across the contracts for these 5 customers.
